Acer Aspire AS7750G-9810 17.3-Inch Laptop (Black)

The specs speak for themselves. My son in the Navy was looking for a gaming computer and we found this one for him. The specs on this laptop allow him to play Battlefield Earth without having to change any of the details. It has seperate memory for the video which makes everything run smooth and fast. He liked it so much I bought one for myself. I'm very happy with the screen size and the feel of the keyboard. I can type a paper on half the screen and have the research on the other half and see both with no problem. Attaching it to a monitor to run Netflix while doing something else on the laptop screen didn't slow it down at all. I would have liked a backlit keyboard, but even in a fairly dark room the letters are bright enough to see. I have noticed I bump the DVD player once in a while and it pops open, but once I got used to where the button was it wasn't a problem. This laptop, when it works is excellent. The processor is very powerful and the AMD discrete GPU works well. That is when the GPU decides to work. You have the option to use either the discrete GPU or the integrated graphics for all programs, but even setting some programs to use the GPU, it doesn't kick in, and you are left with crippling performance because the Intel HD graphics adapter is running the application.

Also with not being able to disable the integrated GPU you cannot receive software updates from AMD themselves and will have to rely on Acer to maybe put out an update once every year or so.

This can easily be rectified by Acer if they would add an option in their BIOS to use the discrete GPU only. HP has heard the community speak and have since added this option for its users.

Therefore I cannot recommend this laptop as it simply does not work as advertised.
